Top Superfoods to Keep You Super Healthy

Did you know that March was National Nutrition Month? Well, in honor of that I wanted to share with you some Superfoods that are super good for you and very easy to add to your diet.

What is a Superfood?

A superfood is a whole, natural, un-processed food that is nutrient rich and has health protecting and promoting qualities. They have healing properties and can positively effect our immune and cardiovascular systems , while also cleansing and alkalizing our bodies.

So…. If you want to get the biggest bang for your buck where you health is concerned try adding one or all of the following superfoods into your diet.

1. Acai

Acai (ah-sigh-ee) is a fruit harvested from South America that is packed full of antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids. Antioxidants fight free radicals and may help reduce the effects of some diseases. Acai has also been linked to weight loss because it is packed full of vitamins and nutrients I believe that it helps create a better balance in your body and well-being and allows your body to get to a weight that is healthy. You can find Acai at most health food stores either frozen pulp, juice or powered forms.

2. Goji Berries

Goji berries are little red berries that are grown in China and Asian regions, and have been used for thousands of years in China to help eyesight, restore libido, promote longevity and strengthen legs. These little berries are also antioxidant power packed and usually found dried raisins.

 3. Greens

Dark leafy greens spinach, collards, and kale are all high in calcium, magnesium, iron and vitamins A, C, E & K, and they are full of fiber too. There are so many wonderful green vegetables to choose from and you can easily start eating them and benefiting from blood purification , cancer prevention , and improved circulation right away.

Let us not forget about … Marine Phytoplankton , Blue-Green Algae , Spirulina, and Chlorella which all grow in oceans or lakes. They have been referred to as natures complete food and have many health benefits. They are packed full of essential vitamins, minerals, enzymes and fatty acids. Just look at the blue whale… one of the biggest creatures on the planet…. they can live up to 150 yrs old, have plenty of endurance, are sexually active up until they die, and they rely on phytoplankton as their main food source.

4. Avocado

This super delicious food is great source of monosaturated (healthy) fat, is full of vitamins and minerals and rich with protein. It may also help lower cholesterol, and has more potassium then a banana.

5. Cacao (Dark Chocolate)

YUM! Raw Cacao has many health benefits and contains polyphenols. It is a natural source of sulfur and magnesium, and contains surprisingly high levels of immune enhancing antioxidants.
